Welcome to my nutshell

Penang, Malaysia

"The most wasted day of all is that in which we have not smiled"

Let's bring back the shine.

A reminder.

When Penang lost its charm, the authorities got serious and frantically implemented various policies to restore and bring back the shine to its former glory. Many years have passed by and this grim reminder is also getting old and worn. Pearl of the Orient will certainly bring back many fond memories to be treasured and cherished.

Be cautious - a rare find

This little scorpion was found hiding in the bunch of buah dokong (a local fruit) bought from the local market here in Penang. This inch-long creature could inflict serious injury judging from the offensive sting on its tail, and could have hitched a ride all the way from Trengganu where the fruit originated. This photo was taken after it got squashed while scurrying away. Luckily no one got stung.

5 June 2008

World Environment Day.

Various events are being organised in conjunction with World Environment Day and while Malaysians around the country made pledges and taking steps to save our planet, it is also the day when the price of petrol went up 40%. The night before, just after office hour, there were massive jams on all roads as motorists rushed to fill up their tanks. Electricity tariffs will also be revamped and we are also expecting inflation rate to hit an all time high in ten years.

Prices of essential goods are escalating and even the weather is erratic and unpredictable causing disruptions in our daily lives.
Everyone will be affected and time will be very trying for some. Sacrifices have to be made and a change of lifestyle is inevitable.
